Logo, Website and Marketing Materials for Macula Graphics
Various materials created for my (currently on hiatus) one-man design studio.
Macula Graphics is/was my one-man freelance graphic design studio with a focus on local businesses. Created as a means of bringing in regular side-work, the project was named for the macula, the part of the eye responsible for our ability to perceive fine details and vibrant colors.
Through Macula, I tasked myself with defining a visual identity for the project. This meant designing a logo, building the company website, and creating various pieces of promo material. I took a grass-roots approach to marketing, opting to advertise my services primarily through distributing print flyers in areas with a high concentration of businesses.
My aim with Macula’s visual identity was to create something which came across as bold, friendly, and a bit eccentric. Small liberties were taken in the creation of the studio’s logo which I feel went a long way toward this vision; for example, Macula’s image mark is made up of geometrically imperfect forms in order to create a more organic, slightly more playful appearance. This project is currently on an indefinite hiatus due to scheduling issues, with the macula.graphics website also being offline currently. Regardless, it was an enriching and creatively fulfilling project.
